The Excavator – Brief Notes

For various uses and purposes, different types of heavy machinery are used. They are most often used to perform tasks required for a building project to be completed. An excavator consists primarily of a boom, bucket and cab on a revolving platform called a house that sits with tracks or wheels on top of an undercarriage. Draglines usually weigh about 2000 metric tons, but larger draglines weighing 13,000 metric tons are also available. The dragline bucket system has a large bucket suspended from a large truss-like structure called a boom with wire ropes. This bucket is maneuvered by ropes and chains and held by a rope hoist (whose power comes from large diesel or electric motors). The dragrope is responsible for a horizontal fashion for carrying and drawing the bucket assembly.
