All about Las Vegas Immigration Exam

Before the exam: Applicants for the Green Card are required to go through the Green Card Immigration examination that is supervised by USCIS, or The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); the applicant will be provided with a Civil Surgeon and clinic list – the lists are always the ones which are approved by USCIS. Civil surgeons are appointed by the body and only they can perform the examinations and assess the results. Have a look at Las Vegas Immigration Exam to get more info on this.

It is advisable to fix up appointments as early as possible so as not to miss out on the quick processing of the immigration file.

The applicant should download and go through the form for the exam, which is called the I-693: Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. This form should be completed and brought to the examination by the applicant. Some parts of it have to be completed by the Civil Surgeon.

Payments for the exam have to be carried along with the other documents. There are instructions given by USCIS in the instruction booklet. Applicants should go about this carefully.

Proof of vaccinations taken by the applicant in the past will have to be provided to the Civil Surgeon. Any past records will have to be shown. The applicant will be advised by the doctor as to whether any additional vaccinations or tests are required and where they can be received. Usually the applicant can get them at the local health center.

If the applicant feels that there is any chronic medical situation that could affect the exam copies of the medical records will have to be shown to the Civil Surgeon and proved that the condition is being medically treated and is under control.

AT THE EXAM

The applicant will be examined keeping both physical and mental health parameters in mind. During the course of the exam if it is felt that a certain condition present needs more tests the applicant could be sent back to the local health centre or the applicant’s personal doctor for either advanced testing or treatment.

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

It is advisable to be completely forthright and honest at the examination – it is best to answer all questions truthfully and not dodge any questions. At the same time, however, there is no need for the applicant to give more information than is asked.

The applicant will be tested for diseases like Tuberculosis or Syphilis. All applicants who are two years or more will be taken through a tuberculin skin test or a chest x-ray. If the doctor feels that a child, even if he or she is two years or younger has come in contact with the disease or has a history of the disease then the child too will be asked to go in for the skin test.
